The Power To Quit Is In knowledge
By : Jonah Jameson
Smoking is one of the most easily addicting bad habits in the world to pick up short of illegal drugs. A nicotine addiction has an iron grip over the smoker that many smokers can rarely muster up the will power to resist. However, it is not an impossibility for one to quit. In fact, it is a task that any person should be able to accomplish with the right motivation and a lot of developed will power.
The first thing you need to tell yourself as you try to quit smoking is that you have a nicotine addiction. It is important to remind yourself just how serious your addiction to nicotine is. Remind yourself how when you light up a cigarettes, you are literally inviting poison into your body. You are bringing in tar and chemicals that fill your lungs, and can cause serious respiratory problems, even lung cancer.
Remind yourself that it is stupid to willingly ingest poison over long periods of time. You need to then tell yourself that you no longer smoke. Breaking the smoking mentality is part of why so many people fail when they try to quit smoking. They think of themselves as a smoker who is trying to quit, when the mentality they need to have is that they have already quit.
It is important that you keep in mind that you may slip up and smoke at least once. Do not get angry or beat yourself up about it, as it is understandably difficult to quit without temptation. Instead, you should keep a written record of what led up to you picking up the cigarette and lighting it. This way you will have a frame of reference to help prevent it from happening again.
It is also very important for you to have a non-smoking friend or family member hold you accountable. If you have a friend that you know will give you a hard time about smoking, that will serve as an incentive to keep yourself from smoking again. It is also important for you to keep yourself constantly reminded of your motivation for quitting.
If it is for your friends, then keep a picture of your friends in the place you found yourself smoking the most, if possible. Do the same if your motivation is your family. If it is your health, then just keep reminding yourself that you do not want to develop cancer. These are just a few tips that will help you on your road to recovery. Why Cigarettes Are So Bad For You
How’s this for starters: cigarettes are the single most preventable cause of death in the United States, if not the entire world.
Over 400,000 people in the United States alone die from cigarette related illnesses, including lung cancer and heart disease. Even switching over to so-called “low tar” cigarettes doesn’t help, because the majority of the negative effects caused by smoking are caused by just that: smoke. It is the smoke from the newly combusted tobacco that does most of the damage, not the chemicals in the smoke that are labeled carcinogens. You could get almost the same effect from breathing in smoke from other types of fires throughout your life.
The truth is, smokers are almost 10 times more likely to die from lung cancer than men who do not smoke. Smoking can cause birth defects if used while pregnant and serious side effects if done while taking certain medications.
Cigarettes also have horrible effects on your teeth. The tar that is breathed in sets in on the tooth enamel and stays there, staining it indefinitely. Another oral effect of smoking is the death of taste buds. Smoking can greatly reduce the amount that you are able to smell and taste, even hours after you’ve had a cigarette. Not only that, but bad breath also follows, ruining whatever social appeal you may have to a non-smoker.
Staining your clothes and your furniture doesn’t help the case for cigarettes, either. The smoke settles on these items and makes them stink; it also sticks to walls and causes them to be coated with a brown residue that is difficult to remove by yourself. Some homes where people have smoked for many years have to have professionals enter the home to get rid of both the stains and the smell and this can be expensive, because home owner’s insurance obviously will not cover this type of damage.
The last reason that cigarettes are bad for you is due to the amount of money you spend every month and year on them. An average smoker uses about a pack per day, which can translate into as little as $4.50 a pack to $9 a pack, depending on your location. Think about how much money that is in the long term of things. If you’re on the high end of the spectrum, it can be almost $300 a month wasted on cigarettes. Over the course of a year, that’s over $3,000 spent on cigarettes alone. You could put two 42” HDTVs in your house for that much a year; realizing that, don’t you really want to quit now?

The Great FDA Scam On E Cigarettes
It is a growing trend online and at local malls to see the new e cigarette for sale and people, both smokers and non smokers flocking to them as more and more information is released on the effect they are having on the population.
Most of the smokers that have tried them swear by them with claims of leaving tobacco cigarettes behind and claims of better health and appearance to boot. There was even a study from South Africa that claims that 45% of the people who switched to the e cigarette have now quit using tobacco and are feeling better. All of the scientist and doctors in that study were amazed at the results and highly approve of them as a cessation product and a plain out healthier choice.
This is not the consensus here in the United States when it comes to the government and special interest though. There is still an ongoing battle in a federal court over the popular product with fierce support from most users, family members and even doctors and scientist that are shouting praises for the e cigarette and screaming corruption at the government and special interest for their position on the product.
Several of the board members on the FDA advisory board that are suggesting a ban have direct financial ties to large pharmaceutical companies which creates an open conflict of interest. These companies make profits from smoking cessation products that average a 2% quit rate, so it is in their interest to keep a product off of the market that helps 45% quit smoking according to unbiased studies with no financial ties to special interest.
What is really had to swallow is that these same special interest groups that are funded by these companies also wrote the recent anti-smoking legislation that actually keeps tobacco legal and kills over 400,000 Americans each year. This is a travesty that the ones who claim they want to help people quit tobacco are the same ones that are protecting it and profiting on the funding companies ability to market products that do not work, while trying to ban the products that do work.
Even with all of the corruption from the special interest, the FDA recently put out lab results that were not factual and were misleading to scare the people away from the e cigarette. They did not use a control tthat was equal to the product they were testing and completely ignored the dangers of tobacco that most use the e cigarette to avoid. The current problem is that the coming legal decision may not be based on fact or truth, but rather, based on laws that were written in the past to protect the special interest of a few companies.

Futuristic Cigarettes Are Here Now!
Technological advances are used every day to improve the lives of people using the devices. In 2004 one such development was the electronic cigarette. This device wise invented in China as an alternative to using tobacco cigarettes. This product is free of many of the chemical substances contained within tobacco products. This new high-tech product has many advantages over its low-tech predecessor.
One such advantage would be the fact that since this product does not contain tobacco and is not burned those around users of the product do not have to worry about the health risks of being exposed to secondhand smoke. Parents can use this device without having to go outside to avoid endangering the health of their children. In many public places such as restaurants smoking tobacco products is prohibited and many smokers therefore avoid such places.
The electronic cigarette is not subject to many of the public bans on smoking and therefore allows the consumer to get their nicotine fix without having to wait certain public areas. Of course alternative means to using tobacco products to use nicotine are not new. However, this product is very different from the gums and patches that many consumers have tried using.
The electronic cigarette allows the user to enjoy the experience of smoking instead of the more passive means of nicotine absorption offered by patches and gum. Another reason the device has become popular is it provides a way for workers in smoke free work environments to feed their addiction without leaving work.
This product is also absent of any offensive odor that may bother nonusers or cling to the fabrics of clothing or surfaces in the home or vehicle. After a start up kit is purchased this product is cheaper than traditional smoking is because a single cartridge of nicotine can last as long as a pack of tobacco cigarettes. Also money is saved on lighters, lighter fluid, flints, wicks and matches. The product is available in three strengths and in many flavors.
The electronic cigarette is powered by a battery which recharges much like a cell phone. Nicotine is contained within a cartridge and is vaporized an by atomizer. A red LED light adds to the realism of the smoking experience by lighting up as the user inhales. Water vapor takes the place of tobacco smoke upon exhaling. The electronic is not intended as a smoking cessation device.
45% Quit Smoking With E Cigarettes, Study Reveals
Here is an excerpt from the origional article Here. And if you want to see an e cigarette, Click here!
All participating doctors agreed that e-cigarettes are a significantly more healthy alternative to conventional smoking.
The study’s outcome revealed that:
- 6% of smokers quit within two weeks increasing to 45% within eight weeks.
- 52% of all patients reported both increased levels of energy and visible improvement in their physical appearance
- When asked what factors about smoking tobacco cigarettes were the hardest to give up, 49% of patients said nicotine cravings and 24% the habit itself. Twenty-seven percent of all participating smokers said that a combination of all factors (the habit, nicotine, the taste and feeling of smoking) made it hard to quit.
- When asked if an e-cigarette could act as an agent to overcome all the physical and psychological challenges to quit tobacco smoking, all doctors said “yes”.
This is why the government, tobacco companies and the pharma companies do not want them legal, just the pharma companies stand to lose 2.3 BILLION a year with their stop smoking aids that only work for 2% of the people on average.
400,000 die each year in the U.S. alone. Death is big business for governments, pharma companies and tobacco.
The current federal take on taxes per pack of cigarettes is over $2.30 per pack. Not a bad income for killing people legaly!
