I have had pets all of my life and have been using vet’s all of my life to provide care for them, but the following story, although true shows that not all vet’s are created equal, and some are down right pathetic and have no morals or standards to take care of pet’s, and have even less respect for the people that PAY them to take care of their pets.

In mid December of 2009, one of our Pom’s has a hernia that the previous surgery had broken lose and her intestines had become cutoff, probably as she was exiting our vehicle after a small trip to the store. The “tear” had swollen up and the animal was crying and screaming in pain, and this was on a Saturday afternoon.

We had just moved to the area on November 25^th of the previous month from Florida to this new town in Waverly Tennessee, so we picked a vet from online or the phone book, I can not remember which one we used, but we came across the East brook Animal Clinic and they had an emergency number for weekends and nights.

The call was made and the woman was obviously not happy about coming in on a Saturday, but agreed to make the trip into the office.

My pet was still very ill when we arrived at the office, and the woman was very rude. Like I stated above, we had just moved, and we did not notice that our debit and credit cards had expired, and the banks were closed, so there was no way to get cash. We run a company and are in no way broke, we were just in a fix. It was obvious that we were not broke since we own BMW Z-4’s and other high end autos, and the meeting at the vets office was in one of the Z-4. This woman , because of the expired credit cards accused me of being a con artist because we had just moved and the credit cards had expired.

She also claimed that I was an obvious criminal because I am 24 years old with that many credit cards and all of them expired on the first of December of 2009. She also accused me of not owning the car, took the dogs temp and gave a bill for 150.00 dollars for the emergency care, but there was no care involved, just accusations.

Monday morning, shortly after 9 AM, I paid the bill in cash and took my pet to another vet in waverly Tennessee and they went right to work on her because she was in such bad shape and it took a dangerous surgery because of the delay in care and over 1,000 dollars for the care because It had gotten worse because of the forced wait for professional care on Monday. It took over a week for my pet to recover and get released from the professional vet, and they did not even ask for anything until we picked up the pet after the surgery and recovery

The second vet that actually took care of the pet stated that the animal would have died within 24 hours if we had not gotten her to a vet that Monday and that because of the 2 days of additional waiting that she estimated that over 600 dollars of the bill could have been eliminated if the first vet would have done what was right.

Common sense would tell you that if someone just moved, and all credit cards just expired, and that they are driving high end sports cars that they are no criminals or scammers, but stable people who are in the process of transition, it is pathetic that one of the community “leaders” would act in such a repulsive manner.

I would avoid this clinic at all cost. Not only will she be little you, but she will not take care of your animal. This person obviously has no character whatever and is a pathetic excuse for a professional, a vet, a “pillar” of any community and a human being or an animal lover.

It is obviously not her passion, but just a way to make a living, and I do not want anyone to endanger their pets in this manner
